Kibou 331 : A new sakuras plantation in Japan

House of Dormeuil is proud to continue its support for the victims of the earthquake that struck Japan in March 2011. The Kibou 311 project involves replanting Japanese cherry trees in the disaster areas. Planting started in 2012 thanks to an organisation called Loom Nippon.

On 8 May 2016, a grand cherry tree-planting ceremony took place in the town of Hikoronosato Minami - Sanriku cho. Guests were able to attend a big concert by cellist Yuko Minagawa, and by Kakushin Tomoyoshi, who plays a traditional Japanese instrument known as the biwa. This was followed by performances from local dance groups. The ceremony was attended this year by Dominic Dormeuil, who gave an engaging speech in which he committed to continuing his support for the project in the coming years.
